Software Engineering Sr. Professional I
About your role:
As a Software Engineering Sr. Professional I, you will design and deliver technical data conversion solutions that support credit card portfolio conversions onto Fiserv processing platforms. You will work closely with project managers, data analysts, business analysts, product owners, application development teams, and clients to analyze source data, build conversion programs, and support testing and implementation. Your work is important to accurate client onboarding, data integrity, and successful platform migrations.
What you'll do:
- Develop and maintain complex data conversion programs, mapping logic, and supporting processes for credit card portfolio conversions.
- Deliver technical conversion milestones across the project lifecycle, from planning and requirements review through testing, implementation, and project closure.
- Partner with data conversion analysts and business analysts to translate business requirements into technical specifications and conversion solutions.
- Validate conversion outputs including data files, reports, statements, and related deliverables to ensure accuracy, completeness, and quality.
- Debug complex code, troubleshoot conversion issues, and resolve defects identified during testing and implementation activities.
- Plan and participate in mock conversions, client events, and testing activities with internal teams and client stakeholders.
- Monitor project progress, communicate status, and identify, document, and escalate risks and issues as appropriate.
- Follow established internal processes, quality standards, and best practices while contributing to process improvements.
Experience you'll need to have:
- 4+ years of experience in software engineering, data conversion, or application development in a mainframe environment using COBOL, IBM Job Control Language (JCL), TSO/TPX, and Structured Query Language (SQL).
- 4+ years of experience developing, testing, and validating data conversion programs, custom reports, file processing workflows, or related technical solutions.
- 4+ years of experience partnering with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, create technical specifications, and deliver project-based technology solutions.
- Experience using Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Access, and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) to support analysis, validation, or reporting activities.
- Ability to communicate technical status, risks, issues, and solution impacts clearly in verbal and written formats.
- Bachelor's degree in computer information systems, management information systems, computer science, finance, accounting, economics, mathematics, statistics, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.
Experience that would be great to have:
- Experience in credit card issuing, card services, or payment processing environments.
- Experience supporting conversions to new processing platforms.
- Experience with Optis production programs and processes.
- Experience estimating level of effort, assessing downstream impacts, and supporting multiple concurrent deliverables.
How you'll work:
- This role is on-site Monday through Friday. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
- This role requires use of a computer and audio equipment.
