Job Description Summary
This Lead Engineer position is for the Mechanical System Design team supporting Military NPI Programs. In this position, you will contribute to the design and development of various Mechanical Systems related hardware or sub-systems such that the meet integrated requirements of the engine. This role also involves early project management tasks and mentorship opportunities to less experienced team members through cross-functional processes to support execution of the team’s tasks. You will also be asked to participate in planning activities, technical reviews and support multiple Military NPI programs.

Roles and Responsibilities
- Execute the design and analysis of various Mechanical Systems hardware by applying engineering principles and adhering to business standards, practices, procedures, and product/program requirements with guidance from experienced teammates and technical experts.
- Execute design, analysis or test experience with Mechanical Systems hardware or systems which may include bearings, gears, seals, shafts, structural housings, oil systems or air systems.
- Gain experience in test rig design and execution for various Mechanical Systems hardware and serve as an interface point within GE for those rigs
- Exhibit autonomy to make decisions within a defined requirements framework while resolving design challenges in situations which require technical knowledge and judgement.
- Demonstrate systems-thinking mentality to understand how work of one’s team integrates with others to achieve product requirements.
- Provide timely communication if significant challenges arise and collaborate with colleagues to develop action plans to resolve those challenges.
- Prepare and present technical data along with recommendations or conclusions to internal and external customer audiences.
- Properly document technical data generated and presented.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience and explains information to bring team members to consensus around topics within field.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or advanced degree of Science in engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a mechanical design or mechanical analysis engineering position.
- Due to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship. Preference will be given to candidates who currently hold US Government Security Clearance.
Desired Characteristics
- Bachelor's or advanced degree of Science in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an accredited college or university.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a mechanical design or mechanical analysis engineering position.
- Demonstrated expertise in design and analysis tools, such as Unigraphics/NX, ANSYS classic.
- Experience and familiarity with GD&T principles and reading drawings.
- Experience in manufacturing high-precision, turbomachinery components.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze & solve technical design challenges with sound documentation, planning, & program management skills.
- Systems level thinking
- Familiarity with and ability to leverage FLIGHT DECK, GE Aerospace's proprietary LEAN operating model
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity or fast-paced environment with changing priorities
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to influence others and lead small teams.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
