What does a successful Automation Functional Tester do at Fiserv?
We are looking for an experienced Automation Functional Tester to design, build and execute automated test suites for a Java + Angular application backed by Oracle. You will ensure functional quality across UI, API and data layers, contribute to test strategy and automation frameworks, and work closely with product, development and operations teams to accelerate delivery with high confidence.
What you will do:
- Develop and maintain automated functional and regression test suites for front-end (Angular) and back-end (Java/Spring) components.
- Implement E2E UI automation using tools such as Selenium, Cypress or Playwright and TypeScript/JavaScript where appropriate.
- Automate API testing using Rest Assured, HTTP client libraries or similar frameworks; validate payloads, headers, status codes and error handling.
- Create, run database validation tests against Oracle, author efficient SQL for test data setup and verification.
- Define test objectives, create formal test plans and map test cases to requirements and acceptance criteria.
- Execute and validate system, integration, regression and user acceptance test scenarios; triage and report defects using JIRA/Confluence.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable fast gated releases.
- Collaborate with developers and product owners in Agile ceremonies to clarify requirements, provide testability feedback and prevent defects early.
- Support test environments, test data management and resolve issues.
What you will need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
- 9 - 13 years of functional test experience, with significant hands-on automation exp.
- Experience testing Java-based microservices and Spring Boot applications.
- Solid front-end automation experience for Angular applications (v8+).
- Practical experience with Oracle db and writing/optimizing SQL for test verification.
- Proven experience with UI automation tools (Selenium, Cypress, Playwright) and API automation frameworks (Rest Assured or equivalent).
- Familiar with test frameworks as JUnit or TestNG and mocking/stubbing approaches.
- Exp integrating automated tests into CI/CD (GitLab, Jenkins, Maven) & repositories.
- Strong defect lifecycle management exp using JIRA & documentation in Confluence.
- Comfortable working in an Agile environment; strong verbal and written comm skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and collaboration skills.
What would be nice/great to have:
- Domain experience in Cards, Banking or Payments.
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) for test env.
- Experience with test environment and orchestration tools (Rundeck, Terraform etc.).
- Exposure to performance or load testing tools (JMeter, Gatling).
- Experience with Mainframe DB2, SAP or other legacy backend systems.
