The Global Physical Security (GPS) Data Center Systems Team manages the technology enabling GPS Operations to protect data center property, assets, and infrastructure across Oracle-owned and third-party co-location facilities. Oracle is seeking a highly experienced and multi-talented Director of Data Center Security Systems to lead implementation and operations for hyperscale data center security systems. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical ownership—diving deep into systems, integrations, processes, and data—while building and mentoring a high-performing team. Initial focus includes directing security systems strategy and delivery for new hyperscale builds and establishing production support capabilities across the Oracle Hyperscale portfolio.
Location: on-site Abilene, TX
Internal Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Program Leadership and Ownership

- Own physical security systems (ACS, VMS, IDS, biometrics, key management) and their integrations with enterprise IT (network, identity, logging/monitoring, ticketing).
- Manage the Data Center Security Systems Support Team, including sourcing, onboarding, and performance of contracted staff; set and report on SLAs/OKRs and service quality KPIs.
- Provide project/program management for greenfield and brownfield deployments; lead design reviews, risk assessments, change management, and cutover planning; take a hands-on role in critical delivery tasks.
- Mentor and develop team members; establish runbooks, SOPs, and knowledge bases; drive a culture of automation, security-by-design, and continuous improvement.
- Deliver operational metrics, service ticket analytics, root-cause analyses, and executive-ready reporting.
- Meet financial objectives by forecasting requirements, managing budgets, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions; oversee vendor invoicing and payment schedules.
- Partner across Oracle Lines of Business (e.g., DC Ops, Network, Identity, Legal, Compliance, Audit, Procurement) to ensure service quality and compliance.
Hands-on Technical Leadership
- Configure and optimize large-scale physical security platforms: Lenel OnGuard, Milestone VMS, AXIS cameras; drive standardization, hardening, and high availability across sites.
- Lead integrations with enterprise identity and access (e.g., IDCS/Okta/Azure AD) for role-based access, privileged access controls, and lifecycle automation; enforce least-privilege and zero-trust principles at the physical/logical boundary.
- Oversee networking for security systems in coordination with IT: VLAN design, segmentation/microsegmentation, firewall policies, VPN, QoS, multicast, and resilience across WAN/SD-WAN.
- Implement observability and health monitoring for security systems: dashboards, metrics, logs, and traces; integrate with SIEM/SOAR for alerting, correlation, and incident workflows.
- Drive automation for provisioning, configuration, and compliance using Infrastructure-as-Code and scripting (e.g., Terraform/Ansible where applicable, PowerShell, Python, Bash); maintain version-controlled configurations and CI/CD-driven change processes for repeatable deployments.
Lead system hardening, patch/upgrade programs, certificate and key management, and backup/DR for ACS/VMS/IDS infrastructure; ensure performance and capacity planning for hyperscale growth.
Provide advanced technical support and escalation for Lenel/Milestone programming, API integrations, SDK use, and custom workflows in Security Operations Centers (SOCs).
Security, Risk, and Compliance
- Ensure physical security control effectiveness and audit readiness aligned to SSAE 18/SOC, ISO 27001, NIST, PCI, and internal Oracle policies; coordinate evidence collection and control mapping.
- Maintain policies, standards, and procedures; conduct periodic control testing, gap assessments, and corrective action plans.
- Integrate physical security event data into enterprise SIEM; support threat detection, incident response, and post-incident reviews; reduce false positives via tuning and analytics.
- Ensure data protection for video and access control records: retention policies, encryption, secure storage, and privacy-by-design.
Service Management and Reliability
- Run continuous Alarm Reduction and System Health programs; set SLOs/error budgets; execute resilience testing and disaster recovery exercises.
- Oversee lifecycle management for hardware/software (controllers, cameras, sensors, servers, OS, databases), including standard images, golden configurations, and compatibility matrices.
Vendor, Construction, and Field Operations
- Manage 3rd-party service providers and systems integrators: scopes of work, quality standards, SLAs, performance reviews, and safety/compliance.
- Lead design and commissioning for new builds: requirements, drawings/specs, acceptance testing (FAT/SAT), as-builts, and turnover to operations.
- Perform additional functions as directed by the VP, Global DC Ops & Systems to meet business objectives.
