Job Description
The Package Producer (AM) will produce a daily, DC-based, news-of-the-day package for nationwide affiliate newscast use. The AM Package Producer's primary shift will be 2:00am – 10:00am Monday through Friday. This position will also include longer shifts and weekend shifts when warranted by breaking news.
Responsibilities:
- Work with Correspondent and Editor to provide daily AM package
- Gather elements for package production (identifying video, sound, elements)
- Create daily script shell and item templates
- Writing support for correspondent in response to breaking news and developing stories
- Respond quickly to breaking news and pivot to include in daily package offer
- Monitor and implement NBC News Standards/Rights & Clearance guidance in package offer
- Coordinate daily AM reporter live shots – update booking sheets and flag correspondent
- Oversee publication of package item to Orbit
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- At least 3 years of experience in affiliate or network news
- Bachelor’s degree - preferably in journalism or communications
- Must be able to work weekends, nights, and holidays
- Must be able to work flexible hours during major breaking news
- Strong writing experience and verbal communication skills

- Strong editorial judgment and customer service skills
- Ability to work calmly in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Strong work ethic and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize assignments
Additional Requirements:
Hybrid: This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week. The Company reserves the right to change in-office requirements at any time.
