Job Description
WCAU/NBC10, NBCUniversal Local’s television station in Philadelphia, is looking for a Multiplatform Sports MMJ / Producer who can truly do it all - report, shoot, write, edit, produce, and create content across broadcast, digital, and social platforms.
This is a hybrid role, split between field reporting and in-house producing, ideal for a journalist who sees sports as more than highlights - someone who can tell compelling stories about the people, issues, and culture shaping sports in a major market.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced newsroom, embraces multi-platform storytelling, and brings a strong understanding of the Philadelphia sports landscape.
This is a Thursday-Monday schedule, requiring flexibility for nights, weekends, holidays, and major sporting events.
Primary Responsibilities
- Generate and pitch original sports story ideas; research, schedule, and conduct interviews
- Report, write, shoot, and edit sports stories for broadcast, digital, and social platforms
- Produce sports content, including sportscasts, segments, and shows, under tight deadlines
- Cover live sporting events and breaking sports news with urgency and accuracy
- Deliver live reports and storytelling that is compelling, engaging, and authentic
- Create consistent digital and social content to expand reach and audience engagement
- Actively use social media as a reporting tool and platform to promote stories
- Build and maintain relationships with athletes, teams, and key community sources
- Follow ongoing stories and develop enterprise content beyond day-of coverage
- Work collaboratively across newsroom teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Ensure all content complies with NBCUniversal standards, editorial guidelines, and journalistic ethics
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in sports reporting, MMJ work, and/or news/sports production
- Proven ability to write, shoot, edit, and produce content independently
- Experience producing sportscasts or newsroom content under deadline pressure preferred
- Strong knowledge of sports, with the ability to cover both breaking news and enterprise stories
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Must be willing to work at the NBC10 Philadelphia station
- Must be 18 years or older and have unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.
- Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
- Willingness to join AFTRA as this position may be covered by the AFTRA collective bargaining agreement
