Tech Lead, Business Systems Analysis
About your role:
As a Business Analyst-Payments, you support the delivery of industry-leading payment solutions for banking organizations of all sizes. You will work closely with bank product teams and payment operations teams to analyze client requirements, design solutions, and ensure they are implemented as intended. Your work helps clients adopt modern payment capabilities across multiple clearing schemes while maintaining accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
What you'll do:
- Lead the analysis phase of projects, including planning, requirements discovery, and coordination of analysis activities, with the potential to guide one or more Business Analysts aligned to the work.
- Collect, document, and communicate business requirements and translate them into clear functional specifications and detailed test analysis for development and quality assurance teams.
- Collaborate with product architects and technical architects or leads to define end-to-end solutions that meet client and product objectives.
- Document the results of business analysis, including requirements, gap analyses, and solution designs, and obtain formal sign-off from stakeholders and clients.
- Design, specify, and execute business test scenarios to validate functional requirements and ensure solutions meet client needs.
- Engage with client subject matter experts and system users to identify business needs, clarify requirements, and resolve product issues during clearing development, workshops, and sales or client meetings.
- Facilitate scoping and impact assessment for client and prospect payments change initiatives of varying size and complexity.
- Apply standard software development concepts, practices, and procedures, including quality gates and documentation standards, to ensure consistent delivery.

Experience you'll need to have:
- 7+ years of experience as a business analyst or in a similar role in financial services, with significant exposure to payments.
- Experience in the payments industry, including knowledge of US and international clearings such as SWIFT, Real-Time Payments (RTP), Automated Clearing House (ACH), Lynx, TARGET Instant Payment Settlement (TIPS), Target2, or Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA).
- Experience analyzing and documenting payment flows, including qualification processes, return flows, and exception handling.
- Experience mapping payment data into clearing message structures, including familiarity with ISO 20022 MX formats.
- Experience working with tools such as Jira, Git, and XML for documenting and supporting delivery activities.
- Familiarity with software development processes, including quality gates, documentation practices, and collaboration with development and testing teams.
- Bachelors degree or higher in Business, Finance, Technology, or related field or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.
Experience that would be great to have:
- Experience in banking payment operations supporting payment processing, clearing, or settlement.
- Experience working independently to resolve client inquiries and managing engagements to deliver a positive client experience.
- Experience working on enterprise payment platforms or similar large-scale payment solutions.
