Position Overview
KBR is seeking a Principal Level System Engineer in Greenbelt, MD to support the Stratosphere Troposphere Response using Infrared Vertically-resolved light Explorer (STRIVE). This is a full-time, onsite role that requires regular in‑person interaction with team members, scientists, and mission partners.

Core Responsibilities
Candidates must have strong technical abilities, excellent communication skills, and teamwork emphasis. Candidates must also be able to integrate into a highly skilled software development team.
- Develop systems engineering lifecycle review and engineering peer review agendas, prepare ground system related materials, present review materials.
- Develop and maintain ground system requirements.
- Develop test plans, test procedures, and test reports for Level 3 & 4 ground system requirements.
- Present slides for Requirement Reviews, Operational Readiness Reviews, Test Readiness Reviews.
- Use Model-Based Systems Engineering approach to develop, document, and iterate through the concept of operations designs, and to decompose them into its major subsystem components.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, or related field.
- 15+ years of progressive, related experience in systems engineering preferably in the NASA environment.
- Proven ability to lead complex system design and integration efforts
- Strong understanding of Requirements management, ground system design, testing, and strong presentation skills.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Capability to receive a NASA badge. Candidates that have a NASA badge, or have had a NASA badge in the past are preferred.
Basic Compensation:
$162,500.00 - $243,800.00
The offered rate will be based on contract affordability and the selected candidate's working location, knowledge, skills, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
