A Union Working Foreman is a team member that may validate or coordinate the work of others on a support team. Suggests improvements to process, is a knowledge resource for other team members. Has no authority for staff actions. Thorough knowledge of the team processes.
Responsibilities
- Ensures and verifies appropriate shipping paperwork.
- Using a shipping and receiving software and management system prepare accurate bills of lading for outbound freight.
- Schedule or monitor air or surface pickup, delivery, or distribution of products.
- Leads the activities of workers engaged in receiving, storing, testing, and shipping products or materials.
- Coordinate with carriers and freight forwarders to schedule pick-up of goods.
- Processes necessary invoices to appropriate office for payment.
- Assist and evaluate needs with shipping points, services, weights and freight permits, and other information needed.
- Identify errors on packing lists and invoices and correct them.
- Inspect physical conditions of warehouses, vehicle fleets, or equipment and order testing, maintenance, repairs, or replacements.
- Monitor shipping orders and shipping quantities match picking documents through careful audit of said documents.
- Ensure team is assembling packaging materials and package merchandise per instructions, in preparation for shipment.
- Issue shipping instructions and provide routing information to ensure that delivery times and locations are coordinated.
- Arranges for movement of freight to consignee/agent and updates the system with information.
- Assist in resolving any discrepancies.
Qualifications
- Must hold IATA DOT 49 CFR certifications
- Has as a minimum of 4 years' experience as a licensed shipper.
- Achieve positive results, balancing quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale; Quality Management experience; Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
