BAE Systems, Inc. is seeking an experienced Production Manager to join our Cedar Rapids, Iowa Operations’ team. This leader will oversee the production of high-volume defense electronics products, responsible for planning, organizing, and controlling the production process to ensure efficient and cost-effective manufacturing of complex electronic systems. This role requires strong leadership, technical, and problem-solving skills to manage a team of production coordinators, technicians, and assembly operators.Key Responsibilities:- Communication and Collaboration:
- Communicate production plans, schedules, and performance to stakeholders, including customers (internal and/or external) and senior management.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues, share best practices, and drive business growth.
- Production Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop and implement production schedules to support build and delivery requirements.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality, and supply chain, to ensure smooth production flow.
- Analyze production capacity and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Team Leadership and Management:
- Supervise a team of production coordinators and assembly operators.
- Provide coaching, training, and development opportunities to ensure team members have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and accountability.
- Process Improvement and Optimization:
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement changes to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve product quality.
- Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure production performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Quality and Compliance:
- Ensure production processes comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues, including root cause analysis and corrective action.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills - Bachelor's degree and 4 years work experience or High School Diploma and equivalent experience in production management, preferably in a high-volume electronics manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of leadership, team management, and process improvement.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Must be willing and able to obtain a “Secret” security clearance
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills - Collaborative leadership behaviors that emphasize high goal setting, team empowerment and providing support
- Experience with defense electronics products and familiarity with relevant regulations (e.g., ITAR, EAR).
- Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, six sigma, and quality management systems (e.g., AS9001).
- Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- Manufacturing experience in a fast-paced, high mix environment
- Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, such as SAP or Oracle.
- Familiarity with defense industry standards, such as AS9100 or NADCAP
Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $107359 - $182510
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
