The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled Mid-to-Senior System Administrator to manage and optimize a large, complex, and geographically distributed network environment. This role is designed for a technical professional who excels in high-pressure environments and possesses the agility to adapt to evolving operational priorities.
The successful candidate will oversee multiple air-gapped systems, each with its own distinct domain and supporting infrastructure. This is a pivotal role requiring a blend of strategic system engineering and hands-on technical execution to sustain and upgrade critical capabilities.
Primary Responsibilities
- System Optimization: Install, administer, and optimize server and desktop configurations to ensure continuous, reliable, and efficient operations.
- Security & Compliance: Manage complex server enclaves, including vulnerability assessments, patching, certificate renewals, and Active Directory configurations.
- Technical Problem Solving: Identify and resolve critical hardware and software issues, developing sustainable long-term solutions for recurring operational challenges.
- Infrastructure Documentation: Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of complex server/network environments to streamline incident resolution and knowledge transfer.
- Stakeholder Communication: Coordinate with end-users and external support personnel regarding outages and upgrades, while providing data-driven recommendations to upper management.
#LI-PB2Required Education, Experience, & Skills - Professional Experience: Substantial experience providing direct system administration support to large groups of technical staff, including developers and engineers.
- Technical Proficiency: Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience supporting both Linux and Microsoft-based servers and workstations.
- Security Hardening: 5+ years of experience in operating system and application hardening, specifically within DISA and high-assurance environments.
- Lifecycle Management: 5+ years of experience in software/hardware deployment, patch management, and robust backup/restore functions.
- Core Competencies: Proficiency in Windows Server 2016, 2019, and Active Directory.
- Travel: Ability to perform local travel and occasional annual CONUS and OCONUS trips.
- Must possess a TS/SCI clearance with polygraph
MDOPS
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills - Education: Bachelor’s Degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field with 8+ years of relevant experience.
- Specialized Tools: Experience building and maintaining large-scale, distributed Trellix ePO environments.
- Automation: Strong scripting capabilities using SALT and Python.
- Advanced Stack: Hands-on experience with Red Hat 7/8, VMware, Apache Tomcat, IIS, SQL Server, and KVMs.
- Security Architecture: Expertise in security accreditation, PKI, SSP, multi-domain environments, and vulnerability assessment.
- Virtualization & Hardware: Proficiency in client/server virtualization, disk arrays, PowerShell, PowerCLI, HSMs, and NTP.
Pay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $146670 - $249330
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
