Job Description Contingent upon contract award to BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems and subsequent task orders.
The Principal Space Vehicle Systems Engineer is responsible for supporting the design, development, and operation of satellites and spacecraft. This role requires technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. This position analyzes system hardware state-of-health, provides engineering technical support in response to system issues/discrepancies, and performs calibration activities to ensure specification requirements are met.
Working closely with a team of engineers and technicians, you will ensure the successful execution of vehicle engineering tasks. This role requires excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a team environment. This role requires a ability to create and maintain documentation and procedures associated with the system, interface with factory teams and other support contractors, and provide technical briefings to customers and company management.

What You’ll Do: - Analyze system hardware state-of-health and provide engineering technical support in response to system issues/discrepancies.
- Perform calibration activities to ensure specification requirements are met.
- Create and maintain documentation and procedures associated with the system.
- Interface with factory teams and other support contractors to ensure successful execution of vehicle engineering tasks
- Provide technical briefings to customers and company management on system performance and technical issues..
- Develop and update reports, status updates, and presentations on system performance and technical issues.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to identify and solve challenging technical problems.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions: - Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills - BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 6 years of relevant experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- A current, active Top Secret/SCI Polygraph security clearance is required.
- Polygraph has to have been administered within the last 7 years.
- Perform program responsibilities with minimal supervision and general tasking
- Demonstrated experience analyzing system hardware health and troubleshooting technical discrepancies
- Experience performing system calibrations to meet defined specifications
- Excellent communication skills for interfacing with factory teams and support contractors
- Ability to deliver clear technical briefings to customers and management
