The Work
The RMS team in Manassas is looking for Software Engineer for the Integrated Common Processor (ICP) program. The ICP program provides a common Integrated Undersea Surveillance Systems (IUSS) signal processing and display system software and hardware suite for the US Navy. Work with our team as we develop and deliver new tools and updates to our Navy customer. This position requires DoD Secret Clearance.
Core Responsibilities
• Full-Lifecycle Development: Design, write, and deploy clean, scalable code or expand existing capabilities to support the evolution of critical Navy mission applications.
• Baseline Lifecycle Management: Troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade the existing software baseline to maximize system reliability, efficiency, and long-term stability.
• System Integration & Testing: Conduct robust unit testing, code integration, and system verification to ensure faultless performance within complex naval computing environments.
• Team Collaboration & Mentorship: Drive engineering excellence by actively participating in technical design reviews, constructive peer code evaluations, and mentoring junior engineers.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software, Computer, Electrical Engineering, or a related STEM discipline with 4+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven Java development experience, including multithreading.
- Strong Linux/Unix development, integration, and troubleshooting background.
- Ability to integrate, test, troubleshoot, and refactor software systems.
Desired Skills
- Advanced Java multithreading experience
- UI frameworks: JavaFX / Swing
- Database experience (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or comparable)
- Inter‑process messaging middleware (gRPC, Artemis)
- Performance‑tuning tools (JVisualVM, JConsole, JProfiler)
- Reactive programming (RxJava, Kotlin Coroutines, Flow)
- Containerization/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
- Agile full‑lifecycle development familiarity
- Bash scripting proficiency
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $110300.00 - $204900.00

- Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.
- For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
