The Manager, Machine Maintenance and Machine Programming – is responsible for maintaining, programming, and optimizing Surface Mount Technology (SMT) and related electronic manufacturing equipment. This includes pick‑and‑place machines, reflow ovens, solder paste screen printers, selective soldering systems, conformal coating equipment, and auxiliary electronic assembly tools. The role ensures high-reliability performance of production equipment and supports continuous improvement in electronic manufacturing processes.
What you will do:

Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on SMT production equipment, including pick‑and‑place machines, reflow ovens, paste printers, selective soldering tools, and conformal coating systems.

Create, modify, and optimize machine programs for SMT line operation (pick‑and‑place, print parameters, reflow profiles, and related processes).

Create, modify, and optimize machine programs for other manufacturing equipment like ERSA, PVA, CSC and other manufacturing equipment.

Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and control-system issues related to SMT equipment.

Calibrate and verify machine performance, including placement accuracy, paste deposition, thermal profiling, and soldering quality.

Support new product introduction (NPI) activities including program creation, feeder setup, stencil selection, reflow profiling, and process validation.

Maintain equipment documentation, programming files, maintenance logs, and process setup instructions.

Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and production teams to improve quality, yield, and throughput.

Monitor and optimize SMT line performance to improve cycle time, uptime, and overall equipment efficiency.

Ensure compliance with industry standards, ESD protocols, safety requirements, and manufacturing best practices.

Identify and recommend upgrades, tooling improvements, and process enhancements.
Qualifications You Must Have:

Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience

3+ years hands-on experience with SMT equipment maintenance and programming.

Experience with machine control software from major SMT equipment providers (e.g., Universal , Juki, ERSA, PVA, SCS, Heller, Speedline, Nordson).

Ability to interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and machine diagnostic outputs.
Qualifications We Prefer:

Technical certification or associate degree in electronics manufacturing, industrial maintenance, automation, or related field.

Strong troubleshooting skills involving electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and automation systems.

Experience in high‑reliability electronics manufacturing (aerospace, defense, medical).

Knowledge of IPC standards (IPC‑A‑610, J‑STD‑001).

Familiarity with MES/ERP integration for SMT operations.

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
