OVERVIEW
The Programme and Project Partners (PPP) model was mobilised in 2019 with the purpose of transforming major project delivery at the Sellafield nuclear site.
The partnership brings together KBR, Jacobs, Morgan Sindall Infrastructure, Altrad Babcock and Sellafield Ltd to deliver a 20-year pipeline of major infrastructure projects to support the decommissioning of Sellafield and to create a clean and safe environment for future generations.
In delivering its pipeline of large-scale infrastructure projects, PPP is creating opportunities for its people, supply chain, economy and communities.
KBR’s rapidly growing nuclear team of teams is working at the forefront of the UK’s nuclear space on some of the most exciting new-build, defence and decommissioning programmes.

Position Summary
DelCap is the mechanism through which project management and delivery will be transformed to enforce optimised processes. Sellafield is seeking to both improve the quality of project delivery across the enterprise and reduce the overspend that has occurred in previous years due to time and physical clashes between projects and programmes on the site. Reporting to the Senior Business Architect, the Business Architect is responsible for applying a structured business architecture approach and methodology for capturing the key views and needs of the enterprise.
Key Responsibilites
- Applying a structured business architecture approach and methodology for capturing the key views and needs of the enterprise to capture, define, optimise, lean, and deploy as workflows the Sellafield project management business processes;
- Describing and capturing the Sellafield project management functions, capabilities, services, and processes to identify and describe systems and information that interact with the business, and describe which people, data and technology are involved in the processes;
- Collecting, understanding, and documenting the functional and non-functional requirements for change initiatives and translating them into user stories, ensuring they are well defined and ready for development in line with sprint planning;
- Supporting the analysis of new product developments with other architects;
- Working in close collaboration with the relevant stakeholders to gain approval and prioritisation for identified initiatives and change proposals;
- Identifying and communicating to relevant stakeholders the impact of planned initiatives on their processes, resources, technology, and governance structures;
- Modelling the as-is and to-be project management processes in an enterprise architecture toolset;
- Analysing and interpreting data and information from several sources to support clients in decision making and unlocking the value in data;
- Supporting the development of information systems and technology architecture.
- Ad Hoc – In an agile and fluid fashion provide ad hoc deliverables required for achieve PPP success.

Qualifications - Educational:
Essential: Technical Honours Degree, or equivalent
Desirable: IT/CIS Honours Degree or Equivalent
Qualifications - Professional
Essential: Chartered Engineer, or equivalent
Desirable: Seeking Certified Architect, or equivalent, Seeking Certified Project Manager, or equivalent, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent
Experience and Skills:
Essential:
- The ability to understand business change needs and assess the business impact of those changes by driving the identification of requirements across business units;
- The ability to visualise and create models that can be used in future analysis to extend and mature the business architecture;
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience of continuous stakeholder collaboration to gather and refine business requirements as well as keeping the stakeholder at the heart of design and development, implementation, and transition phases of transformation initiatives;
- Determine and develop user stories for services/systems in production to ensure maximum usability;
- Experience in developing target operating models and identifying opportunities for development in current business models;
- Be familiar with TOGAF and how general business architecture can drive and affect change with support of frameworks and models;
- The ability to apply TOGAF or another enterprise architecture framework to business solutions;
- Experience working in fast-moving, agile, dynamic environment;
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the business; this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualisations;
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to define and resolve problems methodically and logically.
Desirable:
- Intelligent Business Process Management tools, such as PEGA, Power Automate or similar;
- Delivery with agile methods, such as SCRUM, and a DevOps environment;
- Exposure to complex data environments;
- Integration and/or business process management systems;
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture toolsets, such as MooD, etc.;
- Experience understanding and analysing information relating to complex programmes, such as risks, dependencies, issues, and benefits;
- Strategic-level thinking, able to define and influence strategic decisions:
- Carrying out training sessions and workshops to guide relevant teams;
- Experience of Low Code systems design and implementation.
