Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Level 5 Systems Engineer to lead the design and implementation of advanced Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) and Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) solutions at our Fairfax, VA facility. The role involves applying rigorous systems engineering and reliable and secured networking techniques, ensuring compliance with industry standard development assurance guidelines, and delivering high reliability navigation capabilities for our commercial customers. Major responsibilities are:
Subcontractor Engineering Support – Technical Oversight of a key subcontractor. Support to supply chain for subcontract technical oversight, review of subcontractor produced material (requirements documents, design material, safety related material, performance and Hazardously Misleading Information (HMI) analysis reports, Site Installation Plans (SIP), Site Acceptance Test (SAT) reports, test plans, procedures, verification, and reports). Review of proposals, generation of tech evals, etc. Support to relevant program working groups. Support for issue tracking, resolution and escalation. Technical coordination with task owners to ensure proper tracking and management.
Cross Disciplinary Coordination of LMS E&T staff tasking/status, work with LMS CE and subcontractor Systems Engineering Manager (SEM) to work through issues/blockers across the team. Support LMS Office of the Chief Engineer (OCE) activities (e.g. performance reporting, meetings, actions, program reviews, etc.) as needed. Support to modification request / proposal activities. Working with contracts to ensure alignment of prime contract technical requirements across the program organization. Support to program management to bridge technical and programmatic needs as required. Support to internal/external meetings as required.
Travel: Up to > 15 % travel required (mostly international and some domestic)

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
