As a THAAD Senior Staff Systems Engineer supporting the Terminal High‑Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) program, you will play a pivotal lead role in translating mission objectives into clear system design while also leading the failure analysis and troubleshooting with follow-on solutions.
In this role, as the Launcher Subject Matter Expert you will:
- Lead the failure analysis and solution path forward for Launcher issues with the Chief Engineer
- Advise engineering and program leadership on launcher system design and operations
- Lead and/or support launch campaigns, readiness reviews, and mission assurance activities
- Lead the evaluation of technical risks, anomalies, and corrective actions for appointed subject matter
- Review requirements, interfaces, and integration strategies and advise updates and path forward to correct.
- Provide expertise as the Subject Matter Export (SME) for launch vehicle performance, trajectory, and mission constraints
- Support proposal development, customer briefings, and technical strategy
- Mentor systems engineers and launch operations personnel
- Coordinate across government, customer, and contractor teams
- Lead the support for the Launchers both fielded and in development.
- Lead the support for the customer with the fielded launchers both domestic and international
- Support the Launcher production and field return troubleshooting
- Support the development of new Launcher capabilities
- Support Fire Control and Weapon Systems updates as needed.

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience with systems engineering activities including integration and technical analysis
- Experience acting as a team or project lead supporting cross-functional technical teams
- Experience with THAAD or Patriot Launchers
- Experience with network configuration and adminstration
- Active or current Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance.
Desired Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline
- Experience leading a fielded team
- Proven experience training a customer team as well as our LM employees.
- Experience with a AGILE Development System
- JIRA experience
- Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice
- Experience with THAAD Customers
- General knowledge of the entire THAAD Weapon System
- Active Top Secret clearance
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $129000.00 - $239600.00

- For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
