This position will lead the Systems Engineering efforts in defining and maintaining a wide variety of component, subsystem and system level budgets and analyses that are tied to advanced research and development activities.
This position also includes the validation of individual models, integration into system models to provide end-to-end solutions for complex electrical systems and derive updated component level requirements for ongoing technology demonstrations. Due to the technologies involved, many of the models are challenging first of a kind with no industry equivalents and will need to address bit error rate, signal timing and integrity, reliability and other parameters.
This position also includes the need to identify analysis gaps necessary to fully assess a future system architecture as well as assess technical threats and opportunities of current analysis approaches.
Work on world class, next generation disruptive technologies across the enterprise and at business partners and teammate facilities to develop, document, analyze, and test operational, functional, and environmental requirements of developed research systems
Leverage advanced Model Based Systems Engineering methods and tools to perform complex analysis and trade studies to evaluate Key Performance Parameters from technology requirements definition, design and manufacturing process definition to product development phase, supporting the technology all the way from concept definition to technology demonstration
Provide high impact, creative solutions to complex technical problems
Work both independently and as part of a team environment
Provide critical support and independent review of the work of teammates
Position Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain complex system level technical performance budgets that include ongoing advancements in electronic devices, materials technologies and software developments.
Perform iterative performance requirements balancing across multiple teams and technical product concepts.
Support modeling and simulation efforts for technologies under research & development
Coordinate with other requirements focused engineers, modeling and simulation team members and subject matter experts across Boeing and its teammate/partners
Perform requirements functional and physical decomposition, and iterate as necessary to perform functional and physical requirements allocation(s).
Support and perform system level performance trade studies as part of requirements definition and refinement
Perform requirements management and baseline control
Support complex architecture trade studies & system/subsystem level integration & validation
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires a current Tier 5 (T5), formerly known as a Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) (U.S. Citizenship required) or requires candidate agreed to enter a Continuous Evaluation program.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
Experience in new technology or product/capability development
3+ years of experience in system design, functional decomposition, requirements development, analysis, verification and validation
Verbal and written communication skills, with ability to work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience in defining system functional and logical architectures that included hardware and software elements.
Experience in working in an agile model based system engineering environment
Experience with Model Based Engineering tools and languages such as Enterprise Architecture, Cameo, MagicDraw, and UML/SysML
Education/experience in 1 or more of the following: Cameo, DOORS, SysML, Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF)
Adjudicated Counter Intelligence scope polygraph completed within the last 5 years
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
