Position: Structure & Payload Design Engineer (Payload Systems Design)
Location: The Boeing Company, North Charleston, SC
Job Duties:
Collect, organize, synthesize, and analyze data. Summarize findings and develop conclusions and recommendations from the appropriate data sources. Analyze problems, including troubleshooting, isolating fault, repairing, modifying, and re-designing of assigned end-items to support the design, development, and modification of company products using engineering disciplines. Manipulate data sets to compare CATIA to measurement data and to create stereo lithography files. Verify, validate, certify, and qualify processes and procedures in compliance with governing regulations and compliance requirements. Assess and document test and analysis data to show compliance. Assess the inter-relationships of all positions and activities in the system to determine the impact of changes in one area on another area, including the inter-relationships between components of systems and plans, and applying the principles of systems thinking to accelerate performance.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, and 5 years of progressive post-baccalaureate related work experience.
Must have 5 years of experience in each of the following:
• Leading project and program proposals, including the development and execution of schedule milestones, financial assessments, resource assessments, risk, and issues management;
• Design concepts and techniques, including aerospace engineering, concurrent engineering, and Design for Manufacture/Assembly (DFM/A);
• Utilizing computer aided design tools and systems, including Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAD/CAM), Computer Aided Three Dimensional Interactive (CATIA), Mentor Graphics, and Unigraphics;
• Lean Manufacturing principles, including value stream analysis and single piece flow; and
• Payload systems, including cargo handling systems, galley, vacuum waste, oxygen, emergency equipment and issues, including stopped vacuum waste system, malfunctioning cargo handling systems, and emergency equipment failures.
Telecommuting permitted up to 20%.
Travel required up to 10%
