Primary Job Responsibilities
Materials & Processes (M&P) engineer is needed to support the goals and objectives of the various Boeing commercial programs (737/747/767/777/787) and projects being conducted by Boeing Research & Technology (BR&T) in China. BR&T is currently supporting Boeing production and the integration of manufacturing technologies in China. We are looking for a senior Composite Engineer who can work collaboratively on multiple technical field (e.g. Composite raw material and part manufacturing, and relevant material and part testing etc.) and act as the company representative at suppliers, sub-tier suppliers, and academic premises.
- Interface with stakeholders in Boeing procurement and quality organizations and Boeing Suppliers to ensure M&P support is integrated with airplane schedule and rate requirements
- Lead and participate root-cause and corrective action activities with suppliers to ensure manufacturing processes and manufactured parts meeting engineering and regulatory requirements
- Lead and initiate technology and process optimizations to drive continuous improvement on quality and safety, and to reduce production costs and flows
- Develop suppliers to ensure materials, processes and equipment readiness. Support qualification & audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable engineering requirements
- Lead high Technical Readiness Level Research & Development (R&D) trials in production environments to develop and valid new materials, processes and technologies
Other job related information
Candidate must be eligible to be stationed at Tianjin, Shanghai or Beijing and work in China. Travel up to 40% will be required within China to fulfill this work statement at Boeing suppliers and to USA as needed.
Qualifications
Education
Engineering and/or Science degree of Bachelor or above in Material Science, Material Engineering or similar degrees.
Must to have
- Have a minimum of 10 years proven working experience on commercial airplane composite materials, parts, or processes with OEM and/or suppliers
- Sound technical and domain experience in at least one technology area in prepreg (carbon and fiberglass) laminate and composite sandwich structure manufacturing (prepreg cutting, layup, and autoclave curing), machining, and NDI inspection etc.
- Solid knowledge on aramid, adhesives, thermoset/thermoplastic resins etc composite raw material.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills both in English and Chinese
- Ability to lead and develop multidiscipline and geographically dispersed team
- Strong project management skills with ability to manage and lead multiple projects with high level quality and minimal guidance
- Ability to lead root-cause and corrective action in a structured manner
- Strong leadership and ability to proactively develop and improve current M&P and manufacturing processes
- Excellent technical and analytic skills
Good to Have
- Flexibility to work on different technology areas and applications related to aerospace manufacturing
- Experience working collaboratively with international groups at the Multinational Corporations (MNC)
- Strong preference will be given to candidates with experience in Boeing design and build processes, and especially to engineers with Boeing material (BMS) and process (BAC) specification knowledge

This position offers one-time domestic relocation based on candidate eligibility.
