Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) delivers mission-critical applications for leading enterprises worldwide. Our cloud offers hyperscale, multi-tenant services deployed across more than 50 regions globally. OCI continues to expand beyond traditional public-cloud boundaries to support dedicated, hybrid, and multicloud solutions, edge computing, and more.
As a Senior Platform Software Engineer, you will build the platform capabilities that make OCI services easier and safer for engineers and customers to use. You will own components within platform services, APIs, SDKs, integration frameworks, or developer tooling, helping teams adopt reliable interfaces and evolve them without disrupting downstream consumers.
This position is office-based and requires onsite presence in Nashville, Tennessee. Relocation assistance may be available in accordance with Oracle's relocation policies.
Internal Responsibilities
What You'll Do
- Design, build, test, and operate backend platform components, APIs, SDKs, and integration frameworks used by OCI services and customers.
- Own a defined platform area and evolve its contracts, versioning, and interoperability for secure, multi-tenant use.
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues across a bounded set of distributed services; deliver compatibility-safe fixes and clear upgrade paths.
- Improve availability, performance, capacity, and operability through targeted resilience patterns, monitoring, logging, and automation.
- Partner with engineers across OCI to understand consumer needs, review designs and code, and guide adoption of platform capabilities.
- Create high-quality technical documentation, samples, and operational guidance for platform consumers.
- Participate in service support and continuous-improvement efforts, including incident investigation and root-cause follow-up.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years of professional software-development experience; advanced degree holders may have fewer years of experience.
- Proficiency in at least one object-oriented or systems programming language, such as Java, C++, C#, or Go.
- Experience designing and building backend services, APIs, microservices, SDKs, or developer-facing platform capabilities.
- Understanding of distributed-systems fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, and secure software-development practices.
- Experience with API design, integration, versioning, testing, source control, and production troubleshooting.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills, with a demonstrated sense of ownership.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building highly available, scalable cloud services or platform products.
- Experience with RESTful APIs, containers, cloud-native deployment, observability, or service reliability engineering.
- Familiarity with database technologies and multi-tenant service design.
- Experience developing adoption guidance, technical documentation, or examples for other engineers.
