Plans, conducts, and coordinates software development activities. Designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Corrects program errors, prepares operating instructions, compiles documentation of program development, and analyzes system capabilities to resolve questions of program intent, output requirements, input data acquisition, programming techniques, and controls. Ensures software standards are met.
WHO WE ARE
The ISR UAS division of Lockheed Martin Skunk Works is seeking world class software engineers to join a team that continues our 80‑year legacy of pioneering advanced aircraft. Our Mission‑Processing engineers design, develop, and integrate software that powers the flight control, navigation, sensor‑fusion, and communications subsystems of cutting‑edge unmanned aircraft. We operate in a highly innovative, multi‑site environment where speed, modularity, and reusability are paramount.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
You will provide technical leadership for platform-level software supporting ISR and UAS systems. You will drive architecture and design decisions for deployable system images and runtime environments, integrating operating system components, middleware, and platform services. You will analyze and optimize system performance and lead cross-functional efforts across software, systems, and security to deliver reliable, repeatable infrastructure software.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU
In this role, you will work at the intersection of software, systems, and infrastructure engineering. You will lead system configuration, service integration, and image build activities while collaborating with engineers across development, integration, and test teams.
YOUR IMPACT
Your work will enable stable, deployable runtime environments for ISR and UAS platforms. You will help ensure the infrastructure software and system images used across development and test are consistent, validated, and ready for mission-critical applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead development and maintenance of deployable system images and platform environments
- Lead middleware and system-service integration into packaged runtime volumes
- Own configuration management and system initialization processes
- Develop and maintain automation for image creation, validation, and deployment
- Drive integration and deployment activities across lab and test environments
- Drive architecture, design decisions, and technical direction across platform and infrastructure software
