Job Description The selected candidate will work as part of a team installing and assembling shipboard communication systems and will have the following duties and responsibilities:
Assembling or installing equipment or parts requiring simple wiring, soldering, or connecting.
Assembling multi pin connectors and radio frequency connections from drawings or data sheets.
Performing tests on new and existing connections using multi meter and continuity testing using drawings or procedures as a reference.
The hourly rate is set by the Department of labor and is not negotiable. Current rate is $22.24 (Tech II) / $24.87 (Tech III). Job leveling will be determined after the interview.
This position is located in Chesapeake, VA. There is no relocation assistance available for this position. Applicants must be currently residing in or state willingness to relocate self to Chesapeake, VA or surrounding areas.Required Education, Experience, & Skills High school diploma and at least 1 year of related experience
Ability to use hand and power tools
Ability to follow basic technical instructions
Understanding of basic electrical systems
Familiarity with Microsoft office
Willingness to travel as required (at least 25%) and work in a shipyard environment
Ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
Ability and willingness to wear all required PPE and work at heights requiring fall protection equipment
Ability and willingness to work as a team
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills Knowledge of EMP conduit assembly
Ability to perform basic electrical testing using a multimeter
Multi-pin connector building experience
RF cable building experience
US Navy background
Pay Information
This position is covered by a wage law called the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range for this position is determined by the Wage and Hour Division of the Department of Labor on a contract-by-contract basis.
