Responsibilities include collaborating with cross-functional teams, monitoring project expenditures, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
The candidate will play a pivotal role in managing and controlling project costs for our data center construction and infrastructure initiatives. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining accurate budgets, overseeing cost estimation processes, and implementing effective cost control, avoidance and reporting strategies. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in cost management, contract administration, and risk mitigation within the data center or critical infrastructure sector.
Note: this opportunity will be based full time in Abilene, TX. Relocation assistance and short-term housing available for new hires. Non-relocation hires will require 50%+ travel (that is two weeks per month) or more.
Internal Responsibilities
- Review and maintain project budgets and cost forecasts throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor and report on project expenditures, cash flow, and financial performance against approved budgets.
- Lead contract administration activities including procurement, change orders, and claims management.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, proactively addressing potential cost overruns and schedule delays.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders to align financial objectives with project delivery goals.
- Implement and maintain best practices for cost management, control, and reporting processes.
- Prepare and present regular cost and financial reports to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
- Support value engineering efforts to optimize costs while maintaining quality and project requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements throughout all project phases.

- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction project management, with a focus on data center or colocation infrastructure for a general contractor, colocation provider, or hyperscaler.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering large-scale data center construction projects as an individual contributor or technical lead.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and ability to work independently under pressure.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
