Haskell’s Design & Consulting Team unites architecture, engineering, and consulting professionals from across industries and geographies. Our diverse and innovative team allows Haskell to serve our clients with multiple project delivery methods including design-build, engineer-procure-construct, fee-for-service, or consulting services. The Design & Consulting Team serves a diverse set of markets including food and beverage, consumer products, aviation and aerospace, civil infrastructure, healthcare, and Federal Government projects. In this role, you will design impactful spaces for a variety of clients and building types, working alongside a team of Architects, Engineers, and construction experts in the commercial industry. The ideal candidate for this position is an experienced and creative mid-career Interior Designer who has the capability of managing and executing interior design efforts on projects and enjoys working in a team-based setting through all phases of the design and construction process.
Job Responsibilities:
- Conceptual Design:
- Develops design concepts, refines space planning, recommends systems, and selects finish palettes.
- Meets with clients and coordinates with project team to develop design solutions.
- Design Development:
- Researches, documents, and is responsible for discipline design compliance with applicable codes, ordinances, standards and regulations.
- Applies discipline-specific technical standards and procedures.
- Creates presentations in the form of sketch and computer-generated drawings, illustrations, and product & material selections for client review and approval.
- Selects furniture, fixtures & equipment, prepares furniture and artwork plans, and creates furniture specifications.
- Coordinates work with other disciplines.
- Performs interdisciplinary coordination checks to minimize deficiencies, errors and omissions in drawings and specifications.
- Construction Documents:
- Assures adherence to drawing production strategy and the utilization of the corporate design standards and specifications.
- Produces a well-organized, complete, and coordinated set of construction documents including drawings and specifications of good appearance, accuracy, clarity, and correctness.
- Construction Administration:
- Reviews shop drawings and submittal data for conformance with contract documents.
- Participates in field inspections, develops solutions to field problems, prepares field orders, addenda, and record drawings.
- Responds to RFIs and prepares field orders and addenda.
- Assists construction team in the interpretation and clarification of construction documents.
- Creates inspection reports and punch lists.
- Assists with project closeout.
- Project Management:
- Assists in developing discipline budgets for projects.
- Monitors workload status, advising supervisor of difficulties in accomplishing schedules.
- Assures adherence to drawing production strategy.
- Professional Development:
- Participates in the professional community and trade organizations within discipline.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design from a CIDA accredited school
- 5-10 years of interior design experience
Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications:
- NCIDQ Certification
- Registered as a Professional Interior Designer in at least one state
- Active participation in professional organizations
- Ability to read and effectively interpret building construction documentation and associated reports
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and Microsoft programs
- Sustainability credentials such as LEED AP or WELL AP preferred
- Beginner level skill with spec writing software
- Excellent organizational skills to handle/prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously

Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, this position is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
