We are looking for a Software Engineer II – Xbox Advanced Technology Group to join our team.
The Xbox Experiences and Platforms team is home to the engineering work that makes this vision possible, building the developer tools and services that enable game creators to craft incredible experiences, the commerce systems that connect publishers with their audience and help gamers engage with their next favorite games, the platforms on which those games play, and the experiences that turn every screen into an Xbox.
This role is optionally available as a remote position and allows the candidate to work remotely from the comfort of their own home!
The Xbox Advanced Technology Group (ATG) is looking for a great engineer to help Microsoft continue to have a successful game ecosystem. We work directly with game teams helping them solve the difficult problems. We are the Networking & Multiplayer experts that help developers push their games to the limit. We are the team that serves as the champions for external developers to make sure we’re focusing on solving the right problems for them. We’re the team that comes up with new technologies that help to continue pushing forward the features of our game platform.

- Work in partnership with game teams of diverse and talented peers across various disciplines to solve technical issues.
- Participate in API & architecture reviews and provide guidance to internal & external teams.
- Collaborating across teams to drive change on behalf of developer needs.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#
- OR equivalent experience.
- Solid understanding of networking, services & multiplayer game concepts.
- Solid creative problem solving, debugging and algorithm development skills.
- Self-motivated with a solid passion for continuous learning.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with external partners.
- Demonstrated experience in any one of various specialist fields such as low-level networking, NAT traversal, web services & protocols, multiplayer game programming.
- Demonstrated experience with Unreal Engine or equivalent
- Familiarity with Azure or equivalent.
- Familiarity with console development
- Familiarity with Xbox platform networking & services offerings (or equivalent).
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
