The Strategic Division (SD) supports high-reliability organizations including Navy Strategic Systems Programs (SSP), Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center, and the Department of Energy (DOE), among others. Our support across our client base is expanding rapidly and encompasses important services, such as data analytics and visualization, threat analysis, risk management, modeling and simulation, cost estimating, earned value management, program management, system engineering, independent evaluation, and High Consequence Event prevention.
The Surety Programs Group (SPG) supports government and private sector management of complex safety, security, and reliability programs for high consequence operations. SPG delivers industry-leading, innovative, and value-added services such as data analytics and visualization, threat analysis, risk management, modeling and simulation, program management, system engineering, independent evaluation, and High Consequence Event prevention to help our clients understand and mitigate mission risks spanning physical, cyber, and human domains. Within SPG, the Systems Engineering and Fleet Operations (SEFO) subgroup provides support to the US Navy's Strategic Systems Programs' Integrated Nuclear Weapons Security System, including direct support to the Transit Protection Program. The subgroup also provides functional and matrixed support to various other SPA customers.
SPA has an immediate need for a Ship Engineer to support the SPA team remotely and onboard the USNS WATERS.
Responsibilities:
SPG is currently seeking a part-time Marine Engineer, Naval Architect, or Engineer in a related field to join the team managing the USNS Waters, a weapons and navigation test ship supporting the Navy's Strategic Systems Programs. The Engineer will be responsible for reviewing technical specifications for equipment/vessel repairs and modifications, compliance with industry standards, and implementing “best practices” across the enterprise. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively with sponsor program managers, Military Sealift Command Port Engineers, and contractors to ensure work items are always executed efficiently and safely. The job is part-time, remote, with variable hours based on the Ship’s status. It requires routine travel to the ship’s location in Port Canaveral, Florida and elsewhere in the United States for shipyard repair.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizen with DoD SECRET clearance (or higher) OR ability to obtain and maintain clearance.
- Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related field, or equivalent work experience in vessel operations and repair.
- Minimum three years of experience in a similar role within the maritime industry.
- Knowledge of the latest maritime regulations and compliance standards.
- Ability to review and approve technical specifications for vessel repairs and modifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience working on vessels as Chief Engineer or Port Engineer.
- Proven experience troubleshooting mechanical/electrical systems related to marine operations.
- Active DoD Secret clearance.
