The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Liberty Mutual is actively searching for a Surety Underwriting Assistant I with a minimum of 1 year relevant experience.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for detailed Surety bond/agency/processing transactions for surety product line(s) or functional area(s), which may align to a defined territory.
- May include entering rates and new business, renewals, cancellations, endorsements, reinstatements, agency file set-up, licensing/appointment processing, power-of-attorney issuance, and resolving reconciliation problems as necessary.
- Review, reconcile, and update reports as required. Provides assistance in various underwriting and support functions, which may include but is not limited to Contract/Commercial Bond and bid requests, bid entry, bid results, and state regulatory and compliance requirements. Services and responds to internal and external customer needs providing an exceptional customer experience.
- Assists customers with inquiries and answers questions and follows up to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Ability to understand agency management workflows and processes, which may include but is not limited to: commissions, licensing/appointment requirements, state regulatory and compliance criteria, and Power of Attorney requests.
- Understands rating plans and how to apply rates upon registration and may assist with rating scenario entry. Retrieves information relative to the execution of various bond/agency related documents with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Applies logical thinking and technical knowledge of Surety operations processing activities to complete assignments/tasks working within defined policies and procedures to optimize planned business results.
- Performs general administrative office support duties which may also include assisting Finance with collections inquiries upon request and billing/ premium discrepancies.
- May perform technical support within the office and assist in the resolution of problems in coordination with Department Application Specialist. Participates in User Acceptance Testing as assigned.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
This is a hybrid position requiring two days per week in Warrenville, IL office and could consider Hoffman Estates, IL office.
Level of position and compensation based on location and experience.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1+ year related experience required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills to correspond with office personnel and agents.
- Exceptional customer service skills.
- Demonstrates ability to work well on a team and independently.
- Good organizational skills.
- Competent and proficient with computer software applications utilized by Surety. Knowledge of surety bond processing preferred
