The Opportunity
As a dedicated Quantitative Analyst Senior, you will join the Enterprise Finance and Risk Modeling Center of Excellence (MCOE) within the Chief Financial Office at USAA. The MCOE provides support throughout the modeling lifecycle. The MCOE advises model owners of 60+ models in CFO and Enterprise risk on all aspects of model development and governance and educates model owners and the larger CFO and Enterprise Risk communities about model issues and model risk management. This position provides a unique opportunity to drive the adoption of modeling standard methodologies and influence the strategy for model use within our organization while serving the military community.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX or Charlotte, NC. Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
- Applies advanced analytics to assess future risk, opportunities, and effectiveness and translates results into relevant solutions to enhance decision making.
- Engages in model validation and produces model validation reports.
- Applies innovative and scientific/quantitative analytical approaches to draw conclusions and make recommendations to answer business objectives and inspire change.
- Translates recommendations into communication materials to effectively present to colleagues for peer review and management.
- Produces advanced analytical material for discussions with cross functional teams to understand complex business objectives and influence solution strategies.
- Provides mentorship to other team members in the peer review process.
- May produce reports and data visualizations for Executive Leadership and Board(s) with quantitative data to influence strategic decision making.
- Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Actuarial Sciences, or other quantitative subject area; OR 4 years of related experience (in addition to the minimum years of experience required - 10 years total) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
- 6 years related quantitative analysis experience to include statistical analysis, modeling, engineering, mathematics, business or other quantitative field; OR advanced degree/designation in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Actuarial Sciences, or other quantitative subject area and 4 years work experience in a quantitative field relevant to risk management; OR PhD in Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Mathematics, or other quantitative field and up to 2 years work experience in a quantitative subject area relevant to risk management.
- 4 years proven ability working with complex analytical tools and data.
- Knowledge of producing and communicating research data related to key business activities.
- Effectively participating in and leading cross-functional team discussions related to risk management.
- Experience providing guidance to team members related to research and data peer reviews.
What sets you apart:
- Experience at a large bank developing, implementing, validating, or using financial models.
- Solid understanding working with Generative AI tools.
- Working knowledge and a deep understanding of regulatory guidance pertaining to modeling including, but not limited to SR11-7.
- Experience managing complex projects with multiple team members across multiple lines of business.
- Proven ability to work on multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously, oftentimes with competing priorities.
- Experience interacting with Senior Leadership.
- Strong communication skills and a desire to network and build meaningful relationships with business partners.
- Ability to adapt to changes quickly to minimize impact on productivity.

What we offer:
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $99,160 - $189,530.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
