Wealth and Asset Management (WAM) engineering is an organization within Schwab Technology Services aligned to support the technology needs of Schwab Asset Management (SAM), Wealth & Advice Solutions (WAS), the Schwab Center for Financial Research (SCFR), and Third-Party Platform teams. Wealth Management Engineering (WME), an organization within WAM Engineering, is dedicated to providing support to WAS which is a growth area for Schwab.
This newly created role will support the future growth of the WAS business. As a Software Engineer, you will enable WME to achieve consistent, predictable, high-quality delivery by implementing best practices, tools, metrics, automation frameworks, and provide oversight in the areas of software development and testing. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, leveraging your technical proficiency to drive innovation and efficiency throughout the development lifecycle. You will deliver high-quality solutions that meet business objectives in a flexible, collaborative, and rapidly changing environment.
You will play a critical role in supporting key stakeholders across the WAS organization which is focused on high-net worth and ultra-high net worth retail investors. Supported business functions span Schwab’s Wealth and Investment Solutions including Schwab Wealth Advisory. You will be working with a team of talented and highly motivated technologists that strive to make technology a strategic differentiator for Schwab’s WAS business and their clients by demonstrating the following skills and qualifications.

What you have
Required Qualifications
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- 3+ years of experience developing RESTful APIs with Java Spring and Spring Boot.
- Knowledge of object-oriented principals and design patterns.
- Application development using TDD Practices like unit testing and Behavior/Feature testing.
- Relational database experience within MSSQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL or Oracle.
- Understanding of Agile software development principles, including experience participating in a Scrum-based delivery team.
- Experience with continuous integration and delivery tools using GitHub/GitActions.
- Experience using ‘git’ as source control systems.
- Good interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, and organizational skills.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Java 17+.
- Experience developing single page applications with Angular, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS.
- Experience with configuring feature flag using Launch Darkly and with web Adobe Analytics tagging.
- Experience of cloud-native enterprise applications deployed in PCF, AWS, GCP or Azure.
- Experience with MongoDB, including database design, and query optimization.
- Demonstrated knowledge in troubleshooting Issues using Splunk, including logging, and creating Splunk alerts.
