SPA’s Sea Land Air (SLA) Division supports a diverse portfolio of national security government clients, including the Undersea Enterprise, the Navy Surface Community, the Navy MPTE Enterprise, the Army, DoD Agencies, DARPA, OSD, international clients including the Canadian Navy and Australian Defense Force. Our primary objective is to provide timely, objective and analytic assessments that integrate the policy, operational, technical, programmatic and acquisition aspects of our clients’ challenges.
Leveraging both in-domain and cross-domain expertise to maximize our clients’ success, SLA Division acts as trusted agents to senior decision-makers and key leaders and excels at providing data driven analytic insights, systems engineering, strategies and plans that address current and emerging challenges to national security.
The Integrated Warfare Systems Group (IWSG) focus is to provide engineering, technical and programmatic support to the Program Executive Office Integrated Warfare Systems, Above Water Sensors (PEO IWS 2.0) Directorate. Efforts include overarching program management, test and evaluation, systems engineering, operations analysis, systems integration, international, cyber security, IT network and programmatic support for over 30 PEO IWS 2.0 advanced radar, phased array radar, electronic warfare, electro-optic, advanced off-board electronic warfare/decoy and directed energy programs.
SPA has an immediate need for a Junior Systems Security Engineer for employment in our downtown Washington, DC office that is located at 20 M Street, SE.
Responsibilities:
We are seeking a dedicated Junior Systems Security Engineer to provide support to the U.S. Navy Program Executive Office, Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS), Above Water Sensors and Lasers Directorate (IWS 2.0).
You will support PEO IWS 2.0 Above Water Sensors & Lasers Directorate for Program Protection activities. You will be responsible for the System Security Engineering design and review process for developmental acquisition programs across PEO IWS 2.0 to ensure cybersecurity, Anti-Tamper, and Supply Chain security requirements are implemented and verified throughout the acquisition lifecycle. You will draft, review, and analyze program requirements and associated administrative documentation. Assist with requirements analysis during system acquisitions and during transition to sustainment. You will also provide input on cybersecurity and system security engineering practices that are included in system design. Additionally, you will be expected to manage various components of continuously advancing DoD cybersecurity standards, including cybersecurity in a modeling environment, and the Cyber Ready Initiative compliant effort. You will join a high performing team and be expected to develop a strong understanding of Model-Based Systems Engineering and DoD, Department of the Navy, Naval Sea Systems Command and PEO IWS instructions and processes (e.g., DoD 5000).

Please note that the salary information shown below is a general guideline only. Salaries are commensurate with experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. Washington, DC Pay Transparency Range: $85,000 – $115,000.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in STEM or equivalent
- 0-3 Years of experience performing systems engineering or system/component design activities
- Must hold and maintain an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience providing cybersecurity, information assurance or operational support to the DoD, including supporting information operations, cyber operations, system administration, and systems security
- Experience supporting either requirements development and/or management activities
- Experience with Magic Draw/Cameo, Model-Based Systems Engineering, UML/SySML
- Familiarity with the DoD Acquisition process
