Responsibilities:
This position encompasses in-depth system administration and technical project management responsibilities including design review, implementation, and maintenance support for security systems.
The incumbent will:
- Be responsible for ensuring security systems and infrastructure are properly configured, supported, and maintained in accordance with established MTA all-agency guidelines.
- Represent NYCT Department of Security at both technical and policy level meetings with internal departments, other MTA agencies, law enforcement and contractors.
- Manage multiple assignments with fluctuating priorities and definitive timeline.
- Interpret design drawings package, technical documentation and specifications is a must.
- Perform problem resolution of current security systems and hands on installation, upgrade and testing of vendor supplied equipment during the acceptance process.
- Liaise with various support and material vendors, in-house maintenance groups and user departments and provide technical support.
- Maintain digital evidence management systems to preserve, organize, and secure electronic media during retention period for chain of custody.
- Liaise with NYPD to review, process and organize requests for video.
- Review electronic media for incidents occurring on NYCT property or as needed.
- Maintain video retrieval information case database,
- Partner with Security Command Center on video request process.
- Review Genetec Case Management to ensure video upload/case accuracy.
- Troubleshoot deployable cameras returned from field to determine cause of operational fault.
- Maintain confidentiality of highly sensitive information.
Education and Experience:
Computer Associate I-III:
- A certificate from an accredited technical school (approximately 675 hours) with a specialization in computer operations, and two years of satisfactory full-time computer operations experience, in a large-scale networked, multi-tiered, or mainframe computer environment, or two years of satisfactory data communications network experience working in a mainframe or multi-tiered computer environment; or
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and three years of satisfactory full-time experience as described in "1" above; or
- A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and four years of satisfactory full-time experience as described in "1" above; or
- A satisfactory combination of education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", or "3" above. However, all candidates must have at least two years of full-time experience as described in "1" above.
Desired Skills:
- Familiar with NYCT business operation and capital program design/implementation process.
- Principle understanding of security system integration (PSIM API/SDK integration methods and terminologies).
- Understanding of basic construction principles, procurement, and contract management.
- Experience with security systems such as Genetec, Lenel OnGuard and its supporting infrastructure.
- Experience working with security operations and deployment of security resources.
- Ability to troubleshoot and support technical issues both remotely and on-site using standard MTA tools and techniques.
- Ability to read and understand schematic diagrams, technical manuals, and documentation such that supported equipment and software can be maintained with minimal training.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office 365 applications.
