Overview
Painter will be responsible for patching and repairing sheetrock, paint and vinyl wall covering.
Ensure compliance with company Engineering Assumptions/Culture, preventative maintenance programs and procedures, Standard Operating Procedures, Mission Vision and Values as well as all Building/Fire/Health Department codes. Maintain building complex as energy efficiency as possible constantly looking for ways to save energy.
Responsibilities
The following are specific contributions that must be developed during the training program in order to successfully complete the program and be placed in a hotel with or without reasonable accommodation:
- Preparing painting surfaces by washing walls, repairing holes, or removing old paint
- Mixing, matching, and applying paints and other finishes to various surfaces
- Handling planning and prep work in an efficient manner
- Patching, taping, and floating drywall
- Paint and touch-up on walls, trim, ceilings, and doors
- Preparing the surrounding area by covering with cloth or plastic to prevent messes
- Moving furniture and equipment as necessary to reach the entire surface of the project
- Removing fixtures such as doorknobs and light switch covers
- Taping off areas as needed
- Cleaning up supplies and replacing fixtures when project is complete
- To maintain all indoor and outdoor painting
- Apply protective and decorative coats of paint, varnish, lacquer and/or other related materials to interior and exterior surfaces of building, furniture, equipment and other structures
- Washes, scrapes, sands, torches and smooths interior and exterior surfaces prior to painting, varnishing, lacquering or applying other related materials.
- Installs, repairs, and maintains drywall, wall texturing and ceiling acoustic texturing
- Determines appropriate color for new or replacement applications through matching and tinting of appropriate paint products
- Operates compressor, stripping machine, sand blaster, spray equipment and other small powered equipment.
- Repairs and installs wall vinyl (wallpaper)
- Identification, safe handling and appropriate disposal of paints, stains, preparatory and undercoating materials, and other hazardous materials.

Qualifications
• High School degree or GED• Three years hands-on experience working on minor painting and wallpaper application• Must have experience with sheetrock, painting and vinyl wall covering.
- Experienced at patching, taping, and floating drywall
- Experience at paint and touch-up on walls, trim, ceilings, and doors
• Ability to climb ladders, carry heavy equipment, and stand for long periods of time
- Hospitality and/or residential contractor type of experience preferred
- Climbing, reading, standing, walking and routinely lifting 25 lbs to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to receive instructions and communicate progress of work assignments.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences, such as effectively communicating with supervisors, coworkers, public etc.
