Job Summary
Inspect, service, repair and maintain export terminal equipment including but not limited to rail car dumpers, conveyors, and ship loaders.
Primary Activities and Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
- Inspect, maintain, troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in export terminal equipment components.
- Rivet, bolt, glue, braze or weld to fabricate, modify or design replacement parts for equipment
- Fabricate, cut, shape, and perform finish operations using various types of materials
- Perform periodic service on export terminal equipmentMiscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.
Pay Rate
$41.08/hour full rate
Training
You will attend on the job training and orientation
Schedule
Monday – Friday 0700 – 1530
Rest Days : Saturday and Sunday
NOTE: SCHEDULE SUBJECT TO CHANGE FOLLOWING INITIAL 90 DAY TRAINING PERIOD
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- 18 years of age or older
- Valid Driver's License
- One year mechanical work experience or training
- One year experience reading and interpreting technical drawings or schematics
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years' experience servicing large electro-mechanical equipment
- Completion of a mechanical vocational or trade school program
Physical Requirements
- Heavy work, lifting up to 70 pounds occasionally and up to 100 pounds on a rare basis
- Stoop/bend/kneel/crouch/crawl/balance/climb
- Exposure to equipment that intensifies the heat factor on an occasional basis
- Safety Policy on Weight Limitations of Equipment
- Employees must complete the Weight Limitation Survey prior to bidding or bumping to any position that requires the Safety Policy on Weight Limitations of Equipment
Job Requirements
- Work safely to prevent on the job accidents and injuries
- Wear protective equipment such as hard hat, hearing protection, or safety-toe boots
- Work hours may include a nonstandard workweek, overtime, and various shift work
- Complete annual training and pass safety rules examinations
- Must pass all required assessments
- Must pass a background screening
- Must pass a post-offer medical examination, including a drug test
