The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Over the course of the program, you’ll learn the ins and outs of insurance - an innovative and rapidly evolving $1.7 trillion dollar industry - connect and build valuable relationships with Liberty leaders, earn scholarship money and secure your spot as a 2025 summer intern!

As a Liberty EXCEL Scholar, you’ll:
- Receive scholarship money for completing the program and for placing 1st in the case competition.
- Receive a full-time, paid, summer 2025 Internship at our Corporate Headquarters in Boston, MA or Plano, TX to apply what you learned as a Scholar.
- Gain foundational industry knowledge on all aspects of insurance, plus a deep understanding of our business.
- Connect with Black mentors and build your network through interactive sessions.
- Be invited to the EXCEL Fall Reception hosted on your campus to connect with Program Managers, Liberty leaders, and fellow scholars.
How it works
Note, candidates must be available and willing to commit to the full program. Fall sessions are 60 minutes twice a week from October - November.

Qualifications
The ideal EXCEL Scholar should be:
- Currently enrolled in their sophomore or junior year at Howard University or Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University
- Interested in pursuing a career in Analytics, Finance or Technology
- Driven by intellectual curiosity and excited by complex problem solving
- Strong in communication and time management
- Permanently authorized to work in the US
