Job Summary

The main purpose of this position is the continuous management and support of a fleet of professional drivers during the night and weekend operations. The Transportation Coordinator ensures that drivers have the knowledge and skills to safely, efficiently and effectively provide industry leading service to our customers, while building relationships with drivers to promote career growth and longevity.
Essential Job Functions
The essential functions listed below represent the duties and responsibilities of the Transportation Coordinator position.
- Continued management and support for 100-250 professional drivers during night and weekend hours.
- Professional verbal and written communication utilizing various technologies (i.e. Outlook, in-cab messaging, phone systems, etc.)
- Enact efficient and creative plans to ensure safe and on time service for customers and for drivers’ prescheduled time off. Coach drivers thru concerns that they may encounter, including but not limited to hours of service, directions, pay and productivity, swaps, permits, lumpers, advances, and equipment needs
- Professional interdepartmental communications to facilitate collaboration on company goals.
- Make cost-effective decisions in line with company goals and expectations.
- Troubleshoot daily challenges for both customers and professional drivers
- Prompt attendance for all scheduled shifts
- Confidentiality is an expectation of this position due to exposure to medical and payroll information
Knowledge, skills, and abilities

- Knowledge of transportation industry and terminology, usually gained through practical experience and on-the-job training

Education and experience
- Prefer a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, preferably within Supply Chain, Business Administration, or equivalent experience.
- Previous transportation or management experience preferred
