As a Research Analyst, you will report to the Business Development Manager and work closely with the entire Business Development and District Leadership Teams. There will be vital interaction to ensure our approach to new work pursuits is an organized and efficient operation.

District Overview
Kiewit's Water Facilities South group is one of Kiewit's leading water/wastewater districts specializing in constructing water treatment facilities, wastewater treatment facilities, and desalination plants. Although we are headquartered in Dallas TX, with regional offices in Miami FL and Atlanta GA, we also pursue various projects stretching across the country. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry as opposed to design. Location
This position can be based out of our Westlake, TX, Alpharetta, GA or Tampa, FL office locations.
Responsibilities
• Project-specific Opportunity Research—Once we’ve made a Go decision, a researcher could support the pursuit team with various research on stakeholders, funding sources, selection committee members, etc.
• CRM Entry and Maintenance/Management as directed by BD Managers and in compliance with BD SOP
• Coordinating with Kiewit Engineering Researcher to understand opportunities from pending regulatory changes – PFAS, Biosolids, large CIP programs, FMI forecasts, B&V forecasts, TWDB projections, AWWA projections, etc.- and how they affect KWFS states.
• Lead Tracking Software – Identifying projects in the planning stage before hiring a design-builder.
• Support BD Manager efforts to identify new projects through industry networking with engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, OEMs, and Owners - new projects coming out – or projects converting from design-bid-build to CMAR or PDB.
• Utility Websites—You can Pull information from Utility websites, but each one is unique and takes time to navigate. It’s common to spend one hour surfing around some websites trying to pull information on a single project.
• Delivery Models – Thoroughly research, organize, and understand all State and Local laws/ordinances on Design Build/CMAR/PDB
• Engineer Partners –Research our engineering partners, e.g., to better understand each Engineering Firm’s past project history—both locally and nationally—past teaming partners, etc.
• Competitor Proposals – Collecting past proposals from public sites or through public records requests
• Competitor Pricing – search council and commission actions to understand CMAR and PDB pricing components that are approved on past projects – whether we competed or otherwise
• Client Contract Models – develop a database of approved contracts that clients have agreed to on CMAR and PDB projects
• Research laws, MBE requirements, preferences, and delivery models
• Local Preference – research and organize State and Local preference laws and get legal decisions where necessary
• BD Shared Service – develop relationships and share information/best practices with other district BD personnel (Southeast, South Central, Central, TIC Marine).
• Organize and present data on competitors: Bid History, Backlog, Historical Revenue, strengths/Weaknesses, and organize information in chart and map
• Initial Cold-call contact, assistance w/ capture plans, etc. to help establish initial basis for A,B,C,D rating (where appropriate and to the level appropriate)
• Internal District Communication including District Business Planning support
• Responsible for KWFS branding and assisting at conferences ( may required a few overnights)
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Library and Information Science, Economics, Business, Marketing, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
- Experience in the heavy civil construction and water/wastewater industry is a plus.
- Excellent research and analytical skills.
- Familiarity with a wide range of research resources.
- Strong writing and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to condense large amounts of information into fast, communicable information for senior managers
- Ability to prioritize and complete a high volume of work, managing multiple projects and coordinating multiple requests to successful completion.
- Solid interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
- Excellent computer skills using Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, Word, etc.
- Basic understanding of data management and analytical software, such as CRM, SharePoint, Tableau, etc.\
