Data Engineer I
Location: Beachwood, OH or Remote for the right candidate
As a Penske Data Engineer I you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and organizing the infrastructure that enables Penske to leverage data effectively. You will function in a project/technical leadership role and will complete high-level and technical systems design for new and enhanced systems. You will also conduct software testing and provide support to end users for a diverse range of applications.
Responsibilities
- Formulate and define system scope and objectives and prepare detailed specifications.
- Develop and maintain scalable data pipelines and build out new API integrations to support continuing increases in data volume and complexity.
- Collaborate with analytics and business teams to improve data models that feed business intelligence tools, increase data accessibility and foster data-driven decision making across the organization.
- Prepare software test plans (e.g., unit/integration tests)
- Provide technical support to and conduct meetings with end users
- Provide both project and technical leadership roles to complete complex system level assignments.
Qualifications
- BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience (MS degree is a plus)
- 8+ years of experience in software development and support
- 5+ years of Python or Java development experience
- 5+ years of SQL experience (i.e., advanced proficiency)
- 3+ years of experience with Snowflake
- 5+ years of experience with distributed database environments, schema design, dimensional data modeling, and related database concepts.
- 5+ years of Experience in Analytical projects and Data Modeling.
- Familiarity with Azure cloud
- Experience with or knowledge of Agile Software Development methodologies
- Full lifecycle development experience in a large complex transactional processing environment.
- Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
- Willingness to travel as necessary, work the required schedule, work at the specific location required, complete Penske employment application, submit to a background investigation (to include past employment, education, and criminal history) and drug screening are required.
