Schwab’s Wealth & Advice Solutions (WAS) organization offers industry-leading wealth management experiences, through solutions like Schwab Wealth Advisory (SWA) and Schwab Advisor Network (SAN), along with a broad range of investment products and solutions, to both retail and registered investment advisor (RIA) clients.
Within WAS, the Senior Manager of Business Strategy will be a part of the Investment Offers & Solutions (IOS) group’s cross-platform strategic initiatives team. IOS is responsible for managing our proprietary separately managed account offers as well as third-party product marketplaces, including mutual funds, ETFs, alternative investments, managed accounts, structured products, fixed income, annuities, insurance, and 529s. Our mission is to provide a positive experience for Schwab clients that invest in these products, while growing a key revenue stream for Schwab.
The Senior Manager of Business Strategy will be responsible for leading and supporting long-term strategy projects for the IOS group, conducting clear and consistent fact-based analysis to inform key business decisions. The role will collaborate closely with partners and stakeholders within WAS and across Schwab including Retail, Advisor Services, Schwab Asset Management, and corporate functions to align on recommendations that will support our clients and the growth of our business.
The Sr Manager, Business Strategy (individual contributor) will:
- Lead and support key strategic projects in collaboration with IOS offer management leaders and the senior leadership team, including:
- Performing in-depth research such as competitive analyses, field and client interviews, and industry best practices
- Designing and analyzing options including market sizing, financial modeling, and regulatory and risk assessments
- Synthesizing complex information, analysis to form clear recommendations
- Develop compelling presentations to support the strategy process, deliver recommendations, and influence audiences at various levels across Schwab, including leadership in WAS and partner organizations
- Monitor Schwab’s business results and plans, IOS results, and the industry to proactively surface potential opportunities and challenges we should address
- Support IOS organizational communication and team engagement efforts
What you have
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 3 years of business strategy experience, preferably in consulting or internal strategy group, and a minimum of 5+ years of total work experience
- Demonstrated financial services acumen; understanding of wealth management market and investment products (e.g., mutual funds, ETFs, separately managed accounts)
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex information and form a point of view
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and executive presence ; ability to influence, create alignment across an organization
- Ability to craft high-quality presentations to synthesize information and support a recommendation and/or vision
- Highly resourceful and adaptable with an action bias
- Ability to solve problems creatively and respectfully question legacy business processes
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in wealth or asset management
