The Sr. R&D Engineer AI/ML develops state of the art prototype software solutions using emerging AI model training techniques, tools and technologies.
This role works hands-on to build and train AI models that enable research into human-computer interaction, enterprise large language models and more. It does this by exploring new concepts through fast iterative prototyping and by using a wide range of approaches that combine a broad variety of AI tools and training.
To be successful, the individual in this role must start with a broad scientific and strong engineering background, become an expert in new areas, and have the capability of quickly building new prototypes.
What You Will Do
- Provides programming and device setup and troubleshooting support for the planning and execution of cutting-edge research to advance the state-of-the art in store and supply chain technology
- Develops mechanisms, control algorithms, and models
- Collaborates with other engineers, and researchers to prototype hardware and software solutions, experiments, and concepts that advance the entire project
- Brainstorms big ideas, works in new technology areas, and drives concepts into a prototype
- Conducts troubleshooting and root cause analyses
- Prepares reports and documentation that present technical and project information in a clear and concise manner
- Prepares sketches, drawings, and schematic diagrams for a variety of audiences (Executives, Product Managers, Engineering)
- Develops and architects internal and external API
- Writes modular and maintainable code to interface with changing software and hardware endpoints on a live system
- Works closely with and leads other engineers to drive feature richness of in-house application support infrastructure and APIs
- Communicates regularly with designers, producers, artists, and more to design automated features and improve their efficiency and quality of work
- Educates team on emerging technologies and how these have been applied in the retail environment
- Develops stable prototypes independently
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, Computer Engineering or related field (or equivalent work experience in a related field)
• 5 years of experience in an R&D product engineering environment
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Experience with Machine Learning Frameworks such as Pytorch, Yolo, TensorFlow and Jupyter Notebooks
• Experience with synthetic data generation for ML training
• Experience with Generative AI model training and API development
• Experience with multiple languages such as C++ / C / Python / Java / JS
• 3 years of experience with system building in C++ or C#, including evaluation design
• Development experience building custom tools for production environment
• Development experience in a cross disciplinary environment
• Familiarity with project management and version control software

Pay Range: $163,800.00 - $311,200.00 annually
