Job Description
The Opportunity:
The Manager of the database team will manage a team of database administrators and engineers who are responsible for building, maintaining, and supporting Cardinal’s databases. The manager will oversee a team of professionals who collaborate with business, Development, Operations and Support to provide solutions to internal and external customers. The team provides Tier II and Tier III support services to our Tier I Operations Center.
The Work itself:
Manage the delivery of multiple simultaneous projects from design through release.
Develop and maintain organizations' databases.
Create data storage and retrieval systems.
Troubleshoot database issues.
Implement database recovery procedures and safety protocols.
Supervise the daily activities of the database team.
Ensure the safety of a company's information by implementing security programs.
Implement tools and procedures for effective and efficient operational management of the environment.
Responsible for making key decisions to ensure successful implementation of initiatives.
Participate in functional and technical meetings throughout the development lifecycle.
Compose internal documentation with input from team members that reflect processes and system configuration.
Plan, organize, and execute critical projects to support the stability of Cardinal systems.
Assist with audits of servers and environment to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
Manage resource planning, utilizations, and on-call schedules.
Improve operations by recommending changes in processes and procedures.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- 5 years relevant work experience with a Bachelor's degree; OR 8 years relevant work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree in information technology or a similar discipline or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
o In lieu of a degree, a high school diploma or equivalent with four or more years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- 3+ years of experience with managing database teams.
- 2+ years of experience managing projects and people.
- 1+ years of experience working in an Agile environment.
- Experience with Mongo, Microsoft SQL, Redis, Kafka, ActiveMQ.
- Experience with web-based, service-oriented applications.
Additional Information
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 124,700.00 to 180,700.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
