Position Overview
The General Superintendent oversees all operating departments, including Owner relations, project personnel administration, direction of suppliers and subcontractors, and overall project safety, quality, planning, operations, cost control, and training.
District Overview
Kiewit's Southeast District is one of Kiewit's leading infrastructure districts specializing in heavy civil, transportation, and water resource markets. Projects you could be working on could include building bridges, airports, mass transit systems, canals, dams, pump stations or tunnels. Although most of our work is regionally based in the southeast region of the United States, we also pursue various projects stretching across the east coast. We are looking for individuals who are passionate about infrastructure and committed to the construction industry as opposed to design.
Responsibilities
1. Technical responsibilities
• Review projection and financial plans.
• Update 90-day discipline schedules and review progress with staff.
• Review ST&S and equipment costs with staff.
• Evaluate equipment needs with CM.
• Conduct weekly department meetings. Asses weekly LDR reviews and commodity curves with the department.
• Lead weekly scheduling meeting.
• Observe and critique operations and work with the superintendent to maximize efficiency.
• Attend different crew safety meetings and critique with the superintendent.
2. Administrative responsibilities
• Maintain daily diary for record-keeping purposes.
• Review daily costs.
• Prepare monthly section cost report.
• Coordinate work with other co-workers on the job.
• Perform other duties as required by the Project Manager.

Qualifications
- Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering or a similar type of experience in a construction-related position that provides the knowledge and experience required for this position
- Must have hands-on field experience in supervisory-specific construction disciplines (Drainage, Earthworks, Structures, Concrete, etc.)
- Working knowledge of various construction disciplines and safety regulations and how to apply them.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Understanding of cost management processes, planning, and scheduling.
- Knowledge of contract drawings and other documents on typical projects.
- Must possess strong organizational and time management skills.
- Exhibits integrity & ethical behavior in all things; understand Kiewit's ethics policy of knowing and acting within policies and practices.
- Willingness, ability, and enthusiasm for travel and/or potential relocation.
- Must be a self-starter and highly motivated, wanting to do what it takes to get the job done.
- Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environments.
