The Opportunity:
KBR is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to work within the Maritime Domain out of Garden Island, Sydney.
Working alongside Ship Staff, and with the guidance of the Programs Engineering Section, the Technical Writer will verify Technical Publication and identify and make amendments to all publications in priority order to complete all deliverables anticipated.
Under the direction of the Programs Requirements Manager and working as an integrated team within the Programs Lifecyle Optimisation Cell, the Technical Writer will also be required to consolidate all amendments for approval under the Programs Engineering Change Process to finalise the task to its completion stage.
Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the role will include, but is not limited to:
- Documentation Remediation: Ensure consistent, safe, technically correct and user-friendly outcome for all technical support documentation. conduct PCA and FCA activities for the purpose of assuring the current configuration baseline, Registerable Plant and Risk Based Asset baselines, and suite of supporting documentation (including as build drawings);
- Provide regular progress reports on assigned work which includes schedules, emergent situation reports, and appropriate risk reports.
- Physical configuration inspection of systems to ensure ‘as fitted’ reflects the approved configuration baseline which includes the assessment of publications.
- Review and incorporation of publication updates and reported publication issues in accordance with the Engineering Change.
- Assist in the development of technical publication changes within the Naval Logistics Information System (includes CMT-U and AMPS).
- Package changes for presentation at DDR (Detailed Design Reviews) to align with the Programs Engineering Change process;
- Confirm publication scheduled maintenance aligns with Ship approved planned maintenance documentation and update or provide recommendations;
- Package changes for presentation at ERB/CCB to align with Ship Engineering Change process;
- Completion of verification, validation and amendment of EOSS, ANP’s and a number of amendments to standard activities;
As the ideal candidate you will bring:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience working to deliver Defence projects;
- Familiarity with Defence Seaworthiness Management System;
- Diploma, or equivalent, qualification in a recognised Engineering related discipline;
- Experience in CMT-U and AMPS;
- Experience within the Defence Maritime Systems environment;
All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active Baseline Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a Baseline Clearance or above should apply.
