Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) Specialist
KBR is seeking an experienced Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) Specialist with a robust background in UNIX systems to join our innovative team. The ideal candidate will bring 8-15 years of experience in LVC environments, demonstrating expertise in creating and managing complex simulations and virtual environments. The candidate must have a strong background in integrating and managing various synthetic environments and simulations, ensuring seamless interoperability between live, virtual, and constructive (LVC) components. The candidate is responsible for the design, development, testing, and implementation of LVC environments, as well as managing federation architectures, requirements, and standards. This role demands a deep understanding of UNIX operating systems, strong problem-solving abilities, and a proven track record in LVC system integration and support. The candidate must have a strong background in managing, configuring, and troubleshooting Linux RedHat systems, as well as hands-on experience with more than one DOD constructive simulations. This is a full-time on-site position in Quantico, VA.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain DOD constructive simulations, such as OneSAF, JSAF, JSPA, JCATS, or other relevant systems, ensuring seamless integration and interoperability with existing systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, developers, and simulation experts, to ensure the successful implementation of the constructive simulations and related projects. Provide installation, configuration, and administration support for Linux RedHat systems, ensuring optimal performance and security.
- Design, develop, and maintain Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) systems and simulations to support training and operational objectives. Integrate and configure LVC systems with various simulation and training platforms, ensuring seamless interoperability. Manage and optimize UNIX-based systems and servers supporting LVC environments, including performance tuning, troubleshooting, and system administration. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define LVC requirements, develop technical specifications, and ensure successful implementation of solutions. Develop and execute test plans to validate LVC systems and ensure they meet performance and reliability standards.
- Monitor system performance and implement upgrades or adjustments to enhance efficiency and capability. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for LVC systems, addressing issues promptly to minimize downtime. Develop and maintain detailed documentation for LVC systems, including system configurations, procedures, and user guides. Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in LVC and UNIX systems management.
Basic Qualifications:
Clearance & Citizenship: Must be a US Citizen. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications are a plus.
Experience: 8-15 years of experience in Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) systems development and support, with a strong background in UNIX systems administration.
Technical Expertise:
- Proficiency with UNIX/Linux operating systems, including system configuration, scripting (e.g., shell scripting), and performance tuning.
- Experience with LVC simulation and training platforms, including integration and interoperability with other systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
- Experience with network protocols and technologies relevant to LVC environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with additional operating systems and platforms, such as Windows or real-time operating systems.
- Experience with virtualization technologies and containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
- Knowledge of simulation frameworks and standards, such as HLA (High-Level Architecture) or DIS (Distributed Interactive Simulation).
- Experience in a defense or aerospace environment with a focus on simulation and training systems.
