Caterpillar Inc. seeks Elec Sys V&V Project Team Ld at its facility located at 2427 E Engine Drive, Chillicothe, Illinois 61523.
Job Description: Responsible for leading the lab-based software and system validation efforts for Electro-hydraulic subsystems. Provide leadership and mentoring to small team of Cat and agency resources. Work with electronic system design engineers to define testing priorities. Perform spec reviews with system engineers to determine test coverage, working with system engineers to test and troubleshoot new software features. Troubleshoot software issues identified at proving grounds. Identification and implementation of new bench capabilities. Development of automated test scripts in the dSPACE environment including delegating to on-site and offshore resources when necessary. Collaboration with the software development teams to mature systems and tools to migrate applicable testing to Software in the Loop platforms.
Requirements : This position requires a bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field. 7 years of experience as an Electronics Control Engineer or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Operation and fault modes of electronic sensors, actuators & other inductive loads; (2) Support testing through programming and graphical programming environments; (3) Validation of classical control methods for e.g. PID and communication networks such as J1939/CAN/Ethernet; (4) Creating and troubleshooting test environment including test automation and instrumentations & data collection tools; and (5) Software development processes and version management tools. Telecommuting: 2 days/week.
