Instrumentation Field Service Technician (SkillBridge Opportunity)

Position Overview
ABB is seeking transitioning service members for a SkillBridge opportunity within our Measurement & Analytics business as an Instrumentation Field Service Technician. Participants will receive hands-on training and field experience supporting ABB level measurement instrumentation and TotalFlow sys-tems used across critical industrial environments. This program is designed to prepare participants for careers in field service, industrial automation, instrumentation, and technical customer support.
What You Will Learn
- Installation, configuration, and calibration of industrial instrumentation
- Troubleshooting and repair of level measurement devices and monitoring systems
- TotalFlow system integration, connectivity, and remote monitoring
- Industrial safety practices and regulatory compliance
- Customer communication, technical documentation, and service reporting
- Field service best practices and independent problem-solving
- Preventive maintenance and system optimization techniques
Desired Background
- Active-duty service member approved for SkillBridge participation
- Mechanical, electrical, electronics, communications, aviation maintenance, or similar technical military experience preferred
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Comfortable working independently and interacting with customers
- Willingness to travel and work in industrial environments
- Basic computer proficiency and technical aptitude
Successful Graduates Will Be Able To
- Install and commission ABB instrumentation systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment and connectivity issues
- Perform preventive maintenance and system health assessments
- Support customers through technical problem-solving and service delivery
- Work independently in field-service environments while maintaining a strong safety focus
Ideal Military Experience
This opportunity aligns well with veterans and transitioning service members from maintenance, elec-tronics, communications, avionics, utilities, calibration, instrumentation, industrial operations, and technical troubleshooting backgrounds. While prior instrumentation experience is not required, candi-dates should demonstrate strong technical aptitude and a desire to learn.
