The Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) Long-Range Planning Data Science team delivers Microsoft’s Long Range Infrastructure plan using state of the art econometric/Machine Learning models, risk simulations and business intelligence. It also excels in delivering Optimization Models to help Microsoft make important business decisions in an uncertain world. We are hiring a Supply Chain Data Scientist to apply their skills in the fields of Forecasting, Operations Research, Econometrics, Statistics and Machine Learning to help us rewrite the playbook on supply chain science in the context of data center supply chains. These skills will help Microsoft make big bets, far out into the future within the context of deploying a new disruptive technology: Large-Language Model (LLM)’s and ChatGPT.
Additionally, they will have to be able to leverage their software engineering skills to connect to various upstream and downstream systems ensuring the forecasting plan matches the execution.

- Apply their expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data to develop econometric/ ML models
- Apply their skills in building deterministic / stochastic optimization models to aid decision making processes
- Connect to and build APIs for turning data science models into a full production system
- Understand fundamental business dynamics impacting demand, and develop automated statistical solutions for forecasting

- OR Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field
- OR equivalent experience.

Data Science IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.
