Pay Level: 026
Salary range: $87,000 - $130,000 depending on experience.
FLSA Category: Exempt-Salaried

A day in the life
The Data Scientist is responsible for analyzing large and complex datasets to uncover patterns, trends, and insights that can drive business decisions, while working closely with cross-functional teams. This role will utilize statistical analysis, machine learning techniques, and programming skills to extract meaningful information from data, and develop predictive models and algorithms to solve business problems and improve decision-making processes.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Relying upon past healthcare experience, analyzes large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can inform decision-making and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborates with cross-functional teams, including marketing, sales, healthcare providers, and IT, to understand business needs and translate them into data-driven solutions.
- Assists in data collection, cleaning, and preprocessing.
- Develops hypotheses about the business problem and uses modeling techniques to test them.
- Performs exploratory data analysis to uncover patterns and insights and understand data.
- Using Python or R, develops and tests moderate to complex models to solve business problems by maximizing accuracy and minimizing bias.
- Conducts routine checks for model drift and retrains models as needed.
- Supports senior data scientists in larger projects and research tasks.
- Assists and mentors jr. data scientists in their work.
- Communicates findings and recommendations to stakeholders through reports, visualizations, and presentations.
- Stays updated with the latest industry trends and technologies in data science.
- Performs work under general supervision. Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.
- Uses knowledge of MLOps to version, deploy and monitor trained models in production. Experience with Vetiver, Apache or other similar frameworks is required.
What you need to succeed
- A Master's degree in Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- We will consider both educational achievements and relevant work experience in our evaluation of candidates. Your application will still be considered if you hold a degree other than a Master’s degree.
- 3 years of experience in programming languages (such as Python, R, and SQL), data visualization tools (such as Tableau and Shiny), and machine learning algorithms and statistical methods.
- Experience in healthcare is strongly preferred.
- Be a problem solver who is willing to dive into different projects and provide different solutions.
- Comfortable with presenting data to different areas of the business.
- Have a collaborative and analytical approach with stakeholders and with the data analytics team.
Equivalent combination of education, experience or training determined to be acceptable by Human Resources may be substituted, unless regulated by contract or program standards
