Position Overview
The Project Manager is responsible for a construction project's overall direction, completion, and financial outcome. Directs and supervises the work of project administration, project superintendents, and engineers to establish operational priorities and maintain effective relationships with owners, subcontractors, etc.
District Overview
TIC Marine and Heavy Civil self-performs marine projects with company-owned equipment for both the public and private sectors, historically focusing on the southeast coast. Our construction operations are supported by our in-house equipment department, fabrication facility and machine shop to streamline projects for our owners. Using our own equipment and fabrication facility allows us to maintain control over critical scopes, ensuring that the project stays on schedule. Past heavy-civil experiences include cast-in-place concrete, steel, box beam, flat slab, railroad trestle and arch bridges, bridge widening, bascule and swing bridges, box culverts, storm drainage, erosion control, dike and levee construction, concrete paving, tunnels and sound barriers. Our Marine experience includes lock and dam repairs, docks, demolition, Navy wharfs, water intake structures, steel, concrete, composite and timber piling, fender systems, dolphins, piers, dredging, marinas and LNG facilities.
Responsibilities
• Be responsible for ensuring the project meets or exceeds its financial objectives, by overseeing and monitoring each stage of the development
• Coordinates daily/weekly meetings with all the area superintendents and project engineers to develop means and methods, schedule contracting needs and long lead delivery times
• Manage all field operations and work sequences in conjunction with the Project Manager
• Review project estimate or plan to determine estimated job cost, procedures for accomplishing the project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project
• Oversee and approve the monthly job cost updates and quarterly cash flow projections. Also, review, approve, and negotiate change orders
• Anticipate project needs with sufficient lead-time to avoid delays of production. Establishes work plan and staffing for each phase of the project, works closely with Project Manager and HR team to manage the relationship with staff and craft
• Form and lead an effective project management team, define and delegate management responsibilities, and set goals
• Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise
• Be an effective leader, communicate with department leads regarding work scopes
• Ensure project superintendents understand and execute the work as required
• Ensure safety, quality, and production are maintained
• Responsible for project closeout. Secure loose ends by finishing paperwork, obtaining retainages, supporting supervisors, and expediting claims
Qualifications
• Ability to travel and relocate as needed
• 10+ years' experience in all aspects of managing construction projects with a proven track record of successful outcomes - specifically working in Infrastructure, Bridges, Docks, and Marine.
• Undergraduate degree in construction engineering, construction management, or a related degree is preferred
• Ability to understand project scheduling and cost control, and to read and understand project owner specifications and engineering drawings
• Work independently as well as part of a team
• Strong work ethic - willing to do what it takes to get the job done
• Good attention to detail with the ability to recognize discrepancies
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Strong organization/time management skills
