Job Description
U.S. Bank is seeking a strong technical leader to join our Cloud Enablement Service Group as a Software Engineering Director. In this role, you will own and build the Amazon Web Services Platform by leading a talented team of Engineers. The Software Engineering Director exhibits a mix of technical acumen, strategy and vision, along with the ability to cultivate and grow technical talent. The individual is an advanced technologist enabling strong coding practices and solid design decisions. Builds meaningful relationships with relevant stakeholders across the enterprise and effectively partners to remove organizational obstacles and guide cross-team strategic efforts. Fosters a culture of empowerment, engineering excellence, and growth.
Responsibilities
- Managed and lead a team in building out the capabilities and availability of our enterprise level AWS Platform; mentor and nurture talent on the team
- Align platform product direction with Azure platform engineering leaders
- Partner with Development and Migration teams to understand current and future needs
- Lead Quarterly Planning sessions, empower teams to execute, and reprioritize with the team as needed.
- Develop Migration and Refresh strategies; negotiate with key stakeholders and win buy-in for AWS Platform initiatives
- Promote Security and Network best practices
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience
- Eight or more years of relevant software engineering experience
- Five or more years of experience leading a software engineering team
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Experience building and owning an resilient and scalable enterprise level AWS platform
- Completion of a technology-oriented transformation or refresh
- Expertise with Cloud and Network security best practices and concepts
- Strong engineering and technology background with the ability to drive product solutions
- Strong problem solving skills, bringing innovative solutions, that reduce cost, resolve complex issues, increase platform adoption
- Demonstrated management, leadership, interpersonal, and excellent oral and written communication skills, with sound judgement, and the ability to drive decisions through consensus and influence
The role offers a hybrid/flexible schedule, which means there's an in-office expectation of 3 or more days per week and the flexibility to work outside the office location for the other days.

The salary range reflects figures based on the primary location, which is listed first. The actual range for the role may differ based on the location of the role. In addition to salary, U.S. Bank offers a comprehensive benefits package, including incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase 401(k) contribution and pension (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
